Official BIZUMELA YouTube Channel

YouTube is a free video channel offered to us by Google. It has been the desire of many that one has a video channel of his own. Since Google provides us this facility absolutely free of cost, R S Debabrata Chakma took this opportunity as early as Bizumela 2011 so as to provide Chakmas around the world with the facility of keeping in touch with his/her own cultural activities. Since then, he has been voluntarily hosting video at his channel tirelessly.
However, this year in 2013, with his consent, the channel has been upgraded to official Bizumela channel. All are invited to take a look in to the channel where you'll find oodles of Chakma videos posted from Bizu festival of Tripura and Chakma related videos.

Bizumela Channel
Here are a few of the great videos of the channel. I hope you would enjoy them so much as others have enjoyed watching them-

Inauguration programme

It is worth mentioning that there was a heavy downpour in the morning today. However, God must have heard the voice of the Chakma people as there was the sun in the sky right after two hours from initial showers.
Ranjit Dewan, the famous Chakma Singer

Currently, the Cultural programme is going on and at this moment as I am writing this little blog, I am right in front of the Cultural programme.

BIZU IS BACK

Bizu, dearest festival of the Chakma people, is back and only a week ahead of us. Many of us are planning big to celebrate the occasion with ultimate gaiety. I am sure who are far off from their home town or abroad  are striving hard to get back home to be among their own kins. Those who are still left abroad or far off from their home, don't worry I am here with you to present you a living picture of Bizu celebration being organised with a gigantic passion.

This is a glimpse of the Bizu 2012

With the word Bizu, many of my friends are having a question like - 'Where's gonna be the Bizu Mela this year?' And those who are in Tripura we are addicted to knowing it and express our desire to celebrate the Bizu at that particular place of celebration. The 31st Tripura State Level Festival is scheduled to be held on and from the 12th April 2012 to the 14th instant at Baganbari, Longtharai Valley, Dhalai, Tripura. I know some of you might be liking to know the location of  that place and I know I need not mention it to the Chakmas of Tripura that it is situated only 2kms away from the National Highway 44 and in fact, Baganbari itself is situated at 44B of National Roadways of India. If any one of you have followed the NH44 to reach the state Capital, I am sure you have known the famous place in Longtharai Valley named Manu (it is the place from where the ESCORT starts earlier trouble torn Tripura).

I don't know how many of us lucky enough to celebrate the occasion to the fullest extent this year!!! For people like me who have lost their parents not too long will keep haunting the moments we shared with them. But, to many, Bizu is not just the occasion for enjoying free Booze, it will energize each soul to desire more of it because of over all unlimited fun.

Anyways, I might not be taking much of your time. I would cut the story short. This 31st Tripura State Level Bizu celebration would be a nonpareil gala in the history of the Chakma people. The Government of Tripura has been working hand in hand with the local public to make soar its success at its zenith. Unlike any other year, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Longtharai Valley Sub-Division is the convenor of the Bizumela Celebration Committee, so one can just imagine can the other office heads of his Sub-Division remain far behind from him if not walking by his side.

It shall be my pleasure to keep abreast with the Bizumela celebration of Tripura. I shall present with pictures to this blog and videos uploaded to You-tube. I shall try level best to keep updating with the videos of the celebrations within one hour span so long as the festival is over.

This is a short interview with the Secretary of the 31st Tripura State Levwl Bizu Festival 2012. He is one of the prominent social activist of Chakma community of Dergang area and his name is Mr. Paritosh Chakma.

Chakma Music

Hi folks,
Here I come to blog again. Today I am here to give you a little about Chakma Music again. As you now, Chakma music is not that much advanced as it ought to be owing to many factors. One of the prime factors is the lack of support for the artist- young or old. With the advent of digital media these days, the most artists end up with bankruptcy ( due to excessive increase of piracy).
How many of us think of the art that the artists have been endowed with and how many of us are willing to pay the deserved value of buying an original CDs. Most of the people prefer to buy a copied CD from open market. These days, there is no dearth of vendor selling cds in market at the price of Rs.10/- and who would be so sensible to buy an original disc from the artists and frankly speaking owing to the limitations of marketing facility of Chakma music, we don’t care about how we procure the music whether it is legal or illegal.
Their First Album - Mui Honna

But music is universal language. It knows no caste or creed. If one learns that there is an album from Megadeth or Iron Maiden and the likes, people like me would like to buy a copy from the online stores because we are great fan of those bands, similarly those who like Chakma music where could they go to?? Can a Chakma from abroad would like to come to Tripura or visit Mizoram or Bangladesh just only to purchase a copy of the disc? There must be a co-operation between Chakma music sellers among the states of India and with those of Bangladesh at least. This I bet would give an extra advantage to the artist who bring out albums- for this would definite excel their selling and I guess the tendency for doing piracy could be brought down marginally.
Back Page

Today, I am going to put some light on Paracetamol. Paracetamol is a local band of Tripura. You must be aware of the band but hardly many of us heard their songs. So my upload today is dedicated to all the brother and sisters who are reprieved of the Chakma Hard Rock band’s music. But my request to all the people is that you must try to contact the band if you are willing to make contribution towards their mighty job.

Bizu 2011

Bizumela
Bizu is one of the most treasured cultural festivals of  the Chakma population living mainly in Bangladesh and India. Being a traditional festival of the Chakmas, the whole festival reflects on the Chakma tribal cultural heritage. It is a colourful festival bringing happiness to each and every Chakma folks including all the surrounding people whether one may be a tribal or non-tribal.
Tradiionally Bizu comprises of three days- Phool Bizu, Mul Bizu and Guchyapujchya Bizu. On phool bizu, children of  the villages hunt for flowers right from early dawn and make beautiful bouquet to offer to the water god Gangama in order to pray  for good health and prosperity. The whole day is spent in anticipation of the following day which literally meant free for all in terms of eating and drinking.
From early morning the young children go out door to door to take the blessing of the elders while carrying with them pots of water to wash off the feet of the elders. From early morning starts all the fun. People go to their relatives houses to taste the fovourite Pajon Tohn (curry prepared for distribution among the expected guests). On the occasion, fun knows no limit. Boozing and roaming is one of the remarkable parts of this festival through out the day.

Most people love to gather at an appointed place for enjoyment like involving oneself into sports activity and cultural evening. These days fairs are held all around. Tripura, one of the north eastern states of India is also a state where Chakma Tribal population is worthy of mentioning. A fair name Bizu Mela is held in every year. This time state BIZU MELA is held for the 30th time at Pecharthal where maximum number of Tripura Chakma population dwell.
As expected, the fun over here ended only yesterday with lots of fun and enjoyments. A lots of enjoyment overflowed here. My younger brother Maha has brought a glimpse of the Mela. I am sure, every one  present there must have enjoyed to their fullest.
Bizu 2011 has brought the Chakma people lots of gifts especially from the end of the artistes- singers mostly. New albums are brought out and videos are created. Bands like PCM has been born earlier and brought people the Chakma rock music though lacking maturity yet.
In this blog, I am going to present people with Chakma music downloads. But please remember, my only aim is to bring at home the scintillating Chakma music you ever wanted. However, I would encourage you to buy the original music brought out by the producers so that you help the artistes encouraged and soaring high. Music quality through my downloads links is marginal and only for information and education purpose.
